Age-Division Changes and Updates Announced; Effective Immediately
Hilton Head, SC: The International Junior Golf Tour announced Wednesday a realignment in their age divisions, effective immediately. This new adjustment to tournaments will reflect the partnership with the Faldo Series and other International partners, such as Global Junior Golf.
Age divisions will now be broken into four total divisions, two separate categories per gender. Boys 19 & Under competing division and a Boys 16 & Under division. Along with a Girls 19 & Under division, and then a Girls 16 & Under age division.
If a players is born BEFORE September 1, 2002, he/she will be competiting in the 19 and Under age divisions at IJGT events. Any birthday on or after September 1, 2002, will be competiting in the 16 and Under division.
If you wish to compete in the higher age division, please contact an IJGT staff member during registration at Info@IJGT.com or by calling (844) 779-3374. Most importantly, once you compete in the higher age division, you must remain in that category for the remainder of the season for National Rankings purposes.
These changes will go into effect immediately, starting with the next event on the schedule with the playing of the Florida Junior at Falcons Fire on September 15-16.
In its first year of operation beginning in 1995, the IJGT held eight regional events. Three years later, the IJGT had expanded to 23 events nationwide. Now in its 23rd year, the IJGT is open to all junior golfers, and the 2018-2019 season features 40 events at some of golf’s finest venues.
The IJGT gives junior golfers a true opportunity to compete on the international stage as well, with the announcement of the partnership with the Faldo Series beginning in 2017. The Faldo Series hosts 35 annual events in 30 countries worldwide, and has set the stage for junior golfers internationally to compete in high stakes competition against some of the best juniors in the world. Through this partnership, IJGT and the Faldo Series are giving North American junior golfers the opportunity to put themselves on the map with the best players in the world.
Winners of the Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final in 2017 were invited by Sir Nick Faldo himself to compete in the 2018 Faldo Series Asia grand Final.
The second annual Faldo US Grand Final will be hosted November 29 – December 2, 2018 at the Sir Nick Faldo designed Bella Collina Golf Club in Central Florida. The event will be 54 holes and the winners for each age category qualifying to represent the U.S. at the Faldo Series World Final. The North American Grand Final will be a meeting of the best junior golfers in the world, looking to compete and win to prepare for the next level.
