2nd Annual Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final Set to Begin at Bella Collina Golf Club

80 Juniors from Around the World Gathering for a Chance to Compete on the World Stage

Montverde, FL: The International Junior Golf Tour in partnership with the Faldo Series is eager to begin play of the 2nd Annual Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final. The 3-day event will take place at Bella Collina Golf Club in Montverde, FL and hosted by Sir Nick Faldo. Winners of the Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final earn an invitation to participate in the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, taking place in the Spring of 2019.

80 Junior golfers from around the world, representing 22 different countries and 15 different states will make up the stellar tournament field. The tournament field consist of players that have earned an invitation into the Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final based on qualifying at one of eight Faldo Qualifiers from the 2018 season with the IJGT, or by winning an IJGT event over the past year.

A number of players were also a part of the Inaugural Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final in 2017, including winners Ying-Ting Hsieh (Huantan Township, Taiwan) and Egor Zotov (Moscow, Russia). During last year’s Grand Final, the tournament saw a number of great performances, most notably the winner of the Boys U-19 Division Teddy Tetak finishing the event at 15-Under Par.

Before the week gets started, we wanted to showcase what players can expect during the 3-day event including stats, information about the course, and projected weather for the weekend.

The Course

Bella Collina Golf Club in Montverde, FL will play host for the second-consecutive year of the Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final. A Sir Nick Faldo design, this is not the typical Central Florida course, as the 18-hole championship venue features dramatic elevation changes, open fairways and sweeping dunes.

Last year at the Inaugural Grand Final, players had great success at Bella Collina as players in the Boys U-19 Division had an overall scoring average for the weekend of  73.02, with 284 Birdies made during the championship event.

Thanks to our friends over at Bluegolf, we compiled stats from last year’s U.S. Grand Final for a preview at what players can expect and take advantage of this coming weekend:

Boys U-19 Division (2017)

  • Scoring Average: 73.02
  • Total Birdies Made over the 3-day event: 284
  • Best chance at Birdie or Better: 9th hole (Par 5)
  • Hardest Hole: 12th hole (Par 5)

Girls U-19 Division (2017)

  • Scoring Average: 75.68
  • Total Birdies made over 3-day event: 28
  • Best chance at Birdie or Better: 6th Hole (Par 4)
  • Hardest Hole: 12th Hole (Par 5)

Boys U-16 Division (2017)

  • Scoring Average: 74.89
  • Total Birdies made over 3-day event: 190
  • Best chance at Birdie or Better: 15th Hole (Par 5)
  • Hardest Hole: 12th Hole (Par 5)

Girls U-16 Division (2017)

  • Scoring Average: 78.76
  • Total Birdies made over 3-day event: 53
  • Best chance at Birdie or Better: 2nd and 6th Hole (Par 5 and Par 4)
  • Hardest Hole: 12th Hole (Par 5)

As said, there are many great scoring opportunities available on the course, and some short Par 5’s that give players the chance to be aggressive and aim for the green in two. The hardest hole as it can be seen is the 12th hole, an uphill Par 5 with very tough bunkers surrounding the green.
