The IJGT hosted its third local tournament of the spring season, the Lowcountry Junior at Wexford Plantation on January 31-February 1, 2015. The two-day, 36-hole event featured juniors from around the world competed for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings.
Although it was unseasonably cold during round one, the chilly weather didn’t stop the competitors from having a good time on the course. San Antionio, Texas native Jason Hijazi, and Lee Hammerschmidt of Armonk, N.Y., decided to have some fun by posing in the background while Christian Clemence Tupamahu of Manado, Indonesia, teed off on the 14th hole. The threesome all attend the International Junior Golf Academy together.
Hammerschmidt finished round one a single stroke behind the division leader. He closed out round two by making par on the final four holes and finished the tournament in a tie for third.
Tupamahu birdied the par-4 hole No. 2 in round one to begin a six-hole par-or-better streak.
Hijazi struggled in the first round, but recovered in the second knocking 10 strokes off his round one score.
Congratulations to Tupamahu, Hijazi and Hammerschmidt on being our IJGT Photo of the Week! Don’t forget–each week we have a Photo of the Week and it could be you!
