Weekend Recap: Morganti and Li Hop into First Place at Jersey Tee Off Classic

Despite cold and windy conditions at Greate Bay, Morganti and Li earn their first victories of IJGT Season.

Somers Point, NJ: Despite the unseasonal Spring weather and longing cold, the International Junior Golf Tour resumed play in the Northeast this holiday weekend, with the annual playing of the Jersey Tee Off Classic at Greate Bay Country Club. The former host site of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, juniors truly battled the elements over the weekend with high winds and low temperatures. The first Northeast event of the year had a number of national junior golf rankings on the line, along with the winner earning an invitation to the Faldo Series US Grand Final (Fall of 2018).

In the Boys 15-19 Division, play was very competitive from the opening tee shot with a number of talented players from the Garden state and beyond. However, the play of Pennsylvania native, Joseph Morganti led the from the beginning and to the final putt.

Morganti, a native of Havertown, PA, earned the first-place finish after shooting scores of 79 and 80, for a total score of 159. The victory is Morganti’s first of the IJGT season, earning himself an invitation to the Faldo Series Grand Final at Bella Collina.
