Werenski’s 2nd place finish boosts Georgia Tech at Tar Heel Intercollegiate

IJGT and IJGA alum, Richy Werenski, had a great weekend at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate (Sept. 14-15), where his individual 2nd-place finish helped his Georgia Tech team capture a win.

Solidifying a 4-under-par 212 through three rounds, Werenski finished second within his team and second overall, just four strokes behind individual winner and teammate, Seth Reeves.

Adding to his 1-under first round performance, Werenski pulled off a fabulous, 4-under second round, sinking six birdies to finish at 68.  Though he started off slow in the final round, making two bogies and a double bogey through the first five holes, Werenski made up for it on the back 9 with two birdies on the final three holes to pull off a final one-over par 73.

This is the second event and best finish thus far for the Fall 2013 season for the Georgia Tech senior. Next up for the Georgia Tech Men’s Golf team will be the Brickyard Collegiate in Marcon, Ga., slated to take place Oct. 4-6.
