The IJGT traveled to Savannah, Ga., on February 21-22, 2015, to host the Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor. Although frost and sun showers threatened the fun on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, both days turned out to be pleasant. Both rounds of the two-day, 36-hole event began with a shotgun start. Following the event, the IJGT is pleased to award Player of the Week honors to Suffolk, Va., native Trey Wren and Cake Phuchanbanchob of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Wren made par or better on every hole but one on the front nine in round two. He carded four birdies in the second round, and six total. He finished round two with an even-par 72 giving him a tournament total of 150 and tying him for fourth in his division. Wren is currently ranked seventh in the Boys 15-19 Division of the International Junior Golf Tour.
Phuchanbanchob also made par or better on every hole but one on the front nine in round two, including a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole. She knocked four strokes off her round one 6-over 78 to shoot a 2-over 74 in round two. Her tournament total of 152 landed her in a tie for sixth place in the Girls Division. Phuchanbanchob currently ranks eighth in the Girls Division of the International Junior Golf Tour.
Congratulations to both Trey Wren and Cake Phuchanbanchob on their IJGT Player of the Week honors!
